Top Wedding Trends for 2025: Insights from Ready Steady Wed Celebrants

As we approach 2025, weddings are evolving into highly personalised and creative celebrations, with couples looking to fill their special day with meaning, uniqueness, and an emphasis on experiences. We’ve put our heads together to compile this list of wedding trends that we believe will define 2025, based on ceremonies we already have booked along with all the many we have talked about with couples in the earlier planning

stages.

  1. Micro-Weddings with Big Impact

Intimate weddings continue to be a popular choice for couples who prefer a smaller, more personal gathering. Micro-weddings, typically involving fewer than 50 guests, allow couples to focus on the details that matter most—whether it’s a stunning location, elaborate decor, or a carefully crafted ceremony. In 2025, expect to see even more couples opting for these intimate affairs, with an emphasis on creating a truly meaningful experience for themselves and their closest loved ones.

  2. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Ceremonies

Sustainability is increasingly important to many couples when wedding planning, and in 2025, eco-conscious weddings will be more prevalent than ever. Couples are making environmentally friendly choices like using locally sourced, seasonal flowers, making sure the décor is sustainable, eco-friendly confetti, and even digital invitations to reduce waste. We have also seen a rise in couples wanting to incorporate earth-friendly rituals, like tree planting or water blessing ceremonies, that symbolise their commitment to both each other and the planet.

  3. Personalised Vows and Ceremony Elements

Gone are the days of copy and paste ceremonies! In 2025, couples will continue to embrace personalisation in every aspect of their wedding, especially in their vows. More and more couples write their own vows, making the ceremony a deeply emotional and personal experience. Celebrants like ourselves are working closely with couples to ensure every element—from the vows to readings, music, and rituals—reflects the unique journey and love story of the couple.

  4. Unique Venues with Meaning

Choosing a venue that tells a story or has special meaning to the couple is a growing trend for 2025. Traditional banquet halls and ballrooms are being replaced by unique locations such as family homes, natural settings, art galleries, and even industrial spaces. More couples are opting for outdoor ceremonies in picturesque settings like mountain tops, wild campsites, forests, or botanical gardens, providing a stunning backdrop for their vows and photographs. The venue itself becomes a key element of the wedding’s personality and style.

  5. Cultural and Interfaith Celebrations

With couples from diverse backgrounds coming together, cultural and interfaith weddings are on the rise for 2025. These celebrations honour the heritage and traditions of both families, blending customs from different cultures and religions into a seamless and inclusive ceremony. We celebrants love to often collaborate with couples to integrate meaningful traditions, from blessings to rituals, and its important to us that every part of the ceremony is a reflection of  shared values and respect for one another’s backgrounds.

  6. Tech-Enhanced Weddings

Technology continues to revolutionise the wedding industry, and in 2025, tech-enhanced weddings will be a major trend. Virtual guest participation, live-streaming of the ceremony for those who can’t attend in person, and even interactive elements such as augmented reality photo booths are becoming more common. Couples are also using tech to customise their ceremonies – think digital displays for guest seating, drone photography, and even mood-enhancing lighting to create a magical atmosphere.

  7. Inclusive and Non-Traditional Wedding Parties

In 2025, wedding parties will break away from tradition – so bridesmaids and groomsmen may be replaced by “wedding crews” including the people they feel closest to, regardless of gender. This shift toward inclusivity also extends to the ceremony itself, with more personalised roles for family and friends, such as leading parts of the ceremony or taking charge of special rituals.

What do you call a female best man?

Well, now! There's the female best man, the best woman, the best person, the best lady, the best maid, the best matron, the groom's attendant, the groom's maid of honor... and probably countless other titles we’ve missed or haven’t even heard of yet.

Honestly, she could even be the Groom’s Right Honourable Señora and Mistress of Ceremonies if you like!

  8. Elopements and Destination Weddings

For adventurous couples, elopements and destination weddings continue to trend in 2025. Many couples are choosing to exchange vows in far-flung, scenic destinations, combining their wedding and honeymoon into one unforgettable experience. Whether it’s a remote beach or a foreign city, the focus is on creating a private, intimate ceremony in a breathtaking location. We celebrants have seen an increase in couples who want their “just us” moment, allowing them to focus entirely on their love and the significance of the day. And let it be said, we at Ready Steady Wed are always available for destination weddings .

  9. Interactive Guest Experiences

In 2025, weddings will become even more interactive, with couples aiming to provide their guests with a fully immersive experience. So, think anything from live entertainment and interactive food stations to personalised welcome gifts and surprise performances during the ceremony or reception. Couples want their guests to stay engaged and make them feel like an integral part of the celebration. Ceremony rituals that involve guest participation, like communal vows or group blessings, are becoming more popular as well.

The wedding trends for 2025 highlight a growing desire for personalisation, sustainability, and inclusivity. Couples are moving away from traditional expectations and crafting ceremonies and celebrations that reflect their unique values, personalities, and love stories. We are excited to see how these trends continue to evolve and create truly unforgettable wedding experiences for the couples we work with. So, whether it’s an intimate micro-wedding, a tech-enhanced ceremony, or a destination elopement, 2025 promises to be a year full of creativity, emotion, and beautiful celebrations of love and we can’t wait to be involved!
